reactance

Frequency-dependent resistance

Reactance is opposition to alternating current in an electrical circuit, caused by capacitance or inductance rather than resistance.

In psychology, reactance is the tendency to resist or do the opposite of what you're told, especially when you feel your freedom is threatened: The warning label triggered reactance—now I definitely want to try it.
