thermistor
Temperature-sensing electrical component
A thermistor is a type of resistor whose electrical resistance changes significantly with temperature.
The name combines "thermal" and "resistor." Thermistors are used in temperature sensors, circuit protection, and temperature compensation in electronic devices: The thermistor in the thermostat triggers the heating system when the room cools.
