conductor
One who directs musicians
A conductor leads an orchestra or chorus, directing performers through gesture and expression.
The word extends to anyone who guides or directs: a tour conductor, a train conductor who manages passengers and tickets.
In physics, a conductor is a material that allows heat or electricity to pass through it—copper is an excellent conductor, rubber a poor one.
The underlying sense is something that leads or carries forward.
