longitudinally
From end to end
Longitudinally means in the lengthwise direction, along the longest axis of something: The beam was split longitudinally.
In research, longitudinal studies track subjects over extended time periods rather than at a single moment: The patients were followed longitudinally for ten years.
The word contrasts with laterally (side to side) or cross-sectionally.
