International Date Line

Pacific temporal meridian

The International Date Line is an imaginary line running roughly along the 180th meridian in the Pacific Ocean, where the calendar date changes by one day.

Travelers crossing it eastward subtract a day; crossing westward, they add one.

The line zigzags around certain island nations to keep communities on the same date.

We crossed the International Date Line and suddenly it was tomorrow.
