anterior
Situated in front
Anterior means situated at or toward the front.
In anatomy, it describes the forward-facing surface of the body or an organ: the anterior lobe of the brain.
The term contrasts with posterior (back).
In a more general or formal sense, anterior can mean coming before in time: events anterior to the revolution.
