Fabric wing aircraft
A hang glider is a lightweight unpowered aircraft consisting of a fabric wing stretched over a frame, from which a pilot hangs suspended in a harness.
The pilot launches by running off a hill or cliff and controls flight by shifting body weight.
Hang gliding emerged as a recreational sport in the 1970s.
The term also refers to the person flying one: Several hang gliders circled above the valley.
