bungee jump
Elastic cord dive
Bungee jumping is leaping from a height while attached to an elastic cord that arrests the fall and snaps you back up.
The jump itself is a bungee jump; to do one is to bungee jump.
The activity originated as a ritual in the South Pacific and became a commercial thrill sport in the 1980s: I bungee jumped off a bridge in New Zealand.
