Fabric breeze indicator
A wind sock is a tapered fabric tube mounted on a pole, open at both ends, that shows wind direction and approximate speed.
The wider end catches the wind while the narrow end points downwind.
Common at airports and airfields, where pilots use them to judge landing conditions: Check the wind sock before your approach.
