jetpack
Personal flight device
A jetpack is a device worn on the back that uses jet propulsion to lift and move a person through the air.
Long a staple of science fiction and futuristic fantasy, working jetpacks exist but remain impractical for everyday use.
The word sometimes describes any backpack-style propulsion device: The jetpack in that old Bond film used hydrogen peroxide.
Figuratively, to strap on a jetpack suggests accelerating dramatically or taking bold action.
