evacuee
One seeking safety
An evacuee is a person who has been evacuated from a dangerous place.
The word typically appears in contexts of war, natural disasters, or other emergencies: Evacuees from the flooded parish were sheltered in a nearby gymnasium.
Unlike refugee, evacuee emphasizes the act of organized removal rather than flight.
