asylee
Accepted protection seeker
An asylee is a person who has been granted asylum—legal protection allowing them to remain in a country because they face persecution in their home country.
Unlike a refugee, who is screened abroad before arrival, an asylee applies for protection after reaching the destination country: The asylee was granted work authorization after her case was approved.
