Military force members
Troops are soldiers or military personnel, especially when considered as a group or unit.
The word almost always appears in plural form and often follows a number or quantity: The general deployed 5,000 troops to the region.
While troop can technically refer to a single group or unit, troops has become the standard way to refer to military members collectively, whether discussing deployments, casualties, or support for armed forces.
Support our troops became a ubiquitous phrase during wartime.
