warfare
Nations clashing militarily
Warfare is the activity of waging war—the sustained, organized use of military force between nations, states, or other groups.
It encompasses not just combat but the full range of hostile operations: strategy, logistics, intelligence, and the deployment of weapons.
The term extends to nonmilitary conflicts fought with comparable intensity: economic warfare, psychological warfare, cyber warfare.
Unlike war, which names a discrete conflict, warfare emphasizes the ongoing conduct and methods of armed struggle.
