electron gun

CRT's particle emitter

An electron gun is a device that produces and directs a focused beam of electrons.

Found in cathode ray tubes, electron microscopes, and particle accelerators, it generates electrons through heating or field emission, then accelerates and focuses them into a controlled stream: The electron gun fires particles at the sample.
