torr
Barometric pressure unit
A torr is a unit of pressure equal to 1/760 of an atmosphere—the pressure that supports one millimeter of mercury in a barometer.
Named after the physicist Torricelli, the unit appears mainly in scientific contexts: The vacuum chamber operates at 10⁻⁶ torr.
Plural: torr or torrs.
