electrocute

Kill with current

To electrocute is to kill or seriously injure by electric shock.

The word blends "electric" and "execute," originally referring to death by electric chair, but now covers any fatal or severe electrical injury: He was electrocuted while repairing the power line.

Loosely, people use it for any electric shock, even minor ones: I electrocuted myself on the outlet.
