cues
Hints to act
Cues are signals that prompt action or response.
An actor waits for a cue to enter; a pool player chalks a cue before striking.
The spelling distinguishes the signal or stick from queue (a line of people or items).
To cue someone is to give them their signal: Cue the music.
To take a cue from someone is to follow their lead.
