cue stick

Billiards striking tool

A cue stick is the tapered wooden rod used to strike balls in billiards, pool, and snooker.

The narrow end, called the tip, is chalked to prevent slipping on contact with the cue ball.

Often shortened to just cue: She lined up her shot and drew back the cue.
