learned
Acquired through study
Learned functions as both adjective and verb.
As an adjective (usually two syllables: LEARN-ed), it describes someone with extensive knowledge, especially scholarly or academic: a learned professor, learned treatises.
As the past tense of learn (one syllable), it simply indicates acquisition of knowledge: She learned to swim last summer.
A learned behavior is acquired through experience rather than instinct.
