cellular network
Tower-based wireless system
A cellular network is a telecommunications system that divides geographic areas into cells, each served by a base station or tower, allowing mobile devices to transmit voice and data as they move between cells.
The term often appears in contexts about phone coverage: I can't get a signal—there's no cellular network out here.
Also called a mobile network.
