4G

Wireless data standard

4G is the fourth generation of mobile network technology, offering significantly faster data speeds than its predecessor 3G.

The term appears in phone specifications and carrier advertising: Does this phone support 4G? 4G enabled practical mobile video streaming and app-based services that earlier networks couldn't handle.

Largely superseded by 5G in newer devices, though 4G networks remain widely used.
