5G
Latest mobile standard
5G is the fifth generation of mobile network technology, succeeding 4G.
It promises significantly faster data speeds, lower latency, and capacity for more connected devices.
The term appears in discussions of smartphones, infrastructure investment, and internet connectivity: My new phone supports 5G.
During its rollout, 5G became the subject of conspiracy theories falsely linking it to health risks.
