3G
Pre-LTE wireless standard
3G is third-generation wireless technology, the mobile network standard that enabled smartphones to access the internet at usable speeds.
Before 3G, phones could make calls and send texts but couldn't stream video or browse the web efficiently.
Now largely superseded by 4G and 5G, 3G networks are being phased out: My old phone still runs on 3G.
