propagation
How things spread
Propagation is the spreading or transmission of something from one place or entity to others.
Plants propagate through seeds or cuttings; radio signals propagate through the air; diseases propagate through populations.
The word applies equally to physical phenomena, ideas, and living things: the propagation of sound waves, the propagation of misinformation online.
In horticulture, propagation specifically means reproducing plants: She learned propagation techniques for her orchids.
