Yugoslavs
Former federation citizens
Yugoslavs are people from Yugoslavia, the South Slavic federation that existed in various forms from 1918 to 2003.
The term encompassed Serbs, Croats, Slovenes, Bosniaks, Macedonians, and Montenegrins—peoples united by geography and related languages but divided by religion and alphabet.
After Yugoslavia's violent dissolution in the 1990s, the term became largely historical: My grandparents still call themselves Yugoslavs.
