Montenegro

Balkan coastal nation

Montenegro is a small country on the Adriatic coast of southeastern Europe, part of the Balkans.

It was formerly a republic within Yugoslavia, then joined with Serbia until declaring independence in 2006.

The name means "black mountain" in Italian and other Romance languages, referring to the dark appearance of Mount Lovćen.
