Muslim

Follower of Islam

A Muslim is a follower of Islam, the monotheistic religion founded by the Prophet Muhammad in the seventh century.

The word comes from Arabic meaning "one who submits"—that is, submits to God's will.

Muslims follow the teachings of the Quran and observe practices including prayer, fasting during Ramadan, and pilgrimage to Mecca.

As an adjective, Muslim describes things relating to Islam or its adherents: Muslim traditions, the Muslim world.
