Yeats

Celtic twilight poet

William Butler Yeats (1865–1939) was an Irish poet and playwright, widely considered one of the greatest English-language poets of the twentieth century.

He was a central figure in the Irish Literary Revival and helped found the Abbey Theatre in Dublin.

His poetry evolved from romantic Celtic mysticism to a spare, symbolic modernism.

Yeats won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1923.

We read Yeats's "The Second Coming" in English class.
