comic

Standup stage performer

Comic describes something intended to provoke laughter or amusement: a comic novel, a comic performance.

A comic is a person who performs comedy, or a publication featuring sequential illustrated panels—what longer form becomes a comic book.

The plural comics refers to the newspaper section containing comic strips: I always read the comics first.

Comic overlaps with comical, though comical more often describes things unintentionally funny.
