Gaelic

Celtic language family

Gaelic refers to the Celtic languages of Ireland and Scotland, or to the cultures associated with them.

Irish Gaelic (often just called Irish) and Scottish Gaelic are related but distinct languages.

As an adjective, Gaelic describes anything connected to these traditions: Gaelic football, Gaelic music.

In American contexts, Gaelic usually evokes Irish heritage.
