Triangle

Proper geographic designation

A triangle is a three-sided polygon—the simplest closed shape that can be formed with straight lines.

Triangles appear everywhere in engineering and architecture because the shape is inherently stable; unlike rectangles, triangles can't be pushed out of shape without breaking a side.

A triangle is also a percussion instrument—a steel rod bent into the shape and struck with a metal beater.

In relationships, a triangle involves three people, usually with romantic or sexual complications: a love triangle.

To triangle something is to arrange it in that shape or involve a third party.
