entanglement
Messy complicated situation
Entanglement is the state of being tangled up in something—caught, ensnared, or complicated by involvement.
A physical entanglement might be fishing line wrapped around a propeller.
More often the word describes messy involvements: a romantic entanglement, legal entanglements that delayed the project.
In physics, quantum entanglement describes particles whose states remain correlated regardless of distance—a phenomenon Einstein called "spooky action at a distance."
