New York Harbor

Manhattan's maritime entrance

New York Harbor is the tidal estuary and port complex where the Hudson River meets the Atlantic Ocean, encompassing Upper and Lower New York Bay and surrounding waterways.

One of the world's great natural harbors, it has served as the primary gateway for immigration and commerce into the United States: The Statue of Liberty stands at the entrance to New York Harbor.
