Blue Ridge Mountains

Smoky neighbor peaks

The Blue Ridge Mountains are a range of the Appalachian Mountains stretching from Georgia to Pennsylvania along the eastern United States.

The name comes from the bluish haze that often shrouds the peaks, caused by volatile organic compounds released by the dense forests.

We drove the Blue Ridge Parkway last fall.

The region is associated with Appalachian folk culture, music, and crafts.
