docks
Where ships moor
Docks are structures extending into water where boats moor for loading, unloading, or repairs.
A dock may also be an enclosed basin for ship maintenance.
In a courtroom, the dock is the enclosure where a defendant stands during trial.
To dock is to bring a vessel into port, or to join spacecraft in orbit: The shuttle docked with the space station.
Separately, to dock means to cut short—docking a dog's tail, or docking someone's pay by deducting from it.
