hypothermia
Body temperature plummets
Hypothermia is dangerously low body temperature, typically below 95°F (35°C).
It occurs when the body loses heat faster than it can produce it, usually from prolonged exposure to cold: The hikers showed signs of hypothermia after being stranded overnight.
Severe hypothermia causes confusion, slurred speech, and eventually loss of consciousness.
The condition can be fatal without treatment.
