wolverine
Stocky northern carnivore
A wolverine is a stocky, powerful mammal of northern forests and tundra, the largest land-dwelling member of the weasel family.
Despite its modest size, the wolverine is famously fierce and can drive much larger predators from kills.
Its thick fur resists frost, making it valuable in cold climates.
The animal's reputation for tenacity and ferocity has made it a popular mascot and nickname. (Capitalized Wolverine is the Marvel Comics character.)
