70mm
Premium projection format
70mm refers to a film format where the film strip is 70 millimeters wide, significantly larger than standard 35mm film.
The increased surface area captures more detail, producing sharper, more immersive theatrical projection.
Major epics and spectacles were shot in 70mm: Lawrence of Arabia, 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Directors like Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarantino have revived the format.
They're showing it in 70mm at the historic theater downtown.
