Beyond violet light
UV is short for ultraviolet, the invisible light wavelength just beyond violet on the spectrum.
It appears most often in compounds: UV rays, UV protection, UV index.
Sunscreen blocks UV radiation; tanning beds emit it.
Check the UV index before heading to the beach.
