rifling
Tossing a room
Rifling is the spiral grooves cut into a gun barrel's interior, causing bullets to spin for greater accuracy and range.
Without rifling, a barrel is smooth-bore.
The term also names the process of cutting these grooves.
Separately, rifling is the present participle of rifle—to search hastily through something: She was rifling through the desk drawers.
