skin-to-skin
Bare body contact
Skin-to-skin describes direct contact between two people's bare skin, most often a newborn baby placed against a parent's chest immediately after birth.
This practice promotes bonding, regulates the infant's temperature and heartbeat, and encourages breastfeeding.
The term also appears in intimate contexts between adults: We lay there skin-to-skin.
