don

Put on clothing

To don something is to put it on—usually clothing or equipment: He donned his coat and hat.

The word is literary and somewhat old-fashioned, the opposite of doff.

Don also appears as a title of respect in Spanish-speaking contexts, placed before a man's first name: Don Miguel.

In British university slang, a don is a senior member of a college, especially at Oxford or Cambridge. (Capitalized Don is a given name.)
