down
Toward the floor
Down is much less frequently used than its opposite up, mainly from having fewer extended and figurative uses.
Its core meaning, lower, is present in most of its uses having to do with space, but not all: down the street doesn’t mean to a lower place on the street.
Down is far more frequent as an adverb and adjective than as a preposition, where it has many extended meanings that are usually the opposite of the figurative meanings of up.
