technology

Tools from knowledge

Technology is related to two words that inform its meaning: technique and technical.

Technology is the practical way that people apply knowledge to get things done: “Stone Age” refers to cultures in the period before metal-smelting technology was developed.

In modern usage, technology is typically associated with applications currently being developed; frequent words preceding technology are wireless, computer, information, digital, and nuclear.
