ethernet

Not wireless networking

Ethernet spelled with a lowercase e is occasionally seen in casual or technical writing, though the capitalized form is standard.

The technology is a system for connecting computers in a local area network using cables and standardized protocols.

It remains the dominant wired networking technology in offices and homes: The ethernet port on my laptop stopped working. (Capitalized Ethernet is the standard spelling.)
