emotion
Joy or despair
Emotion is a mental state arising in response to circumstances—joy, anger, fear, sadness, love, disgust.
Emotions are distinguished from thoughts (which are cognitive) and sensations (which are physical), though all three intertwine.
Someone full of emotion is visibly moved.
An emotional person feels things strongly or expresses feelings readily.
To show emotion is to let inner states become visible; to hide emotion is to suppress that display.
