public life
Sphere of citizenship
Public life is the sphere of activity visible to and affecting the community at large—politics, civic engagement, media presence.
A politician enters public life; a celebrity lives much of their life in public.
The phrase often contrasts with private life: She kept her family out of public life.
A public life invites scrutiny that private citizens avoid.
