public art
Outdoor community installations
Public art is artwork created for and displayed in shared spaces—parks, plazas, building facades, transit stations.
It ranges from monumental sculptures and murals to installations and performances.
Unlike museum pieces, public art exists where people encounter it in daily life: The city commissioned public art for the new waterfront.
It often sparks debate about aesthetics, cost, and community values.
