wheat paste

Homemade poster adhesive

Wheat paste is an adhesive made from wheat flour and water, cooked until it forms a thick, sticky consistency.

It's used for bookbinding, papier-mâché, and especially for posting bills and posters on walls—a preferred medium for street artists because it's cheap, effective, and washes off more easily than spray paint: We wheat-pasted flyers all over the neighborhood.
